College Football Week 4 Predictions

Here is Brady’s take on how week 4 will go.

Another week of Football is in the books, and we are already a quarter of the way through the season. This weekend didn’t have that many upsets, but there was still plenty of drama and storylines to cover.

#22 Penn St 41 @ Auburn 12

Unfortunately, this is probably the last straw for Bryan Harsin, because this all around horrid performance by the Tigers. T.J. Finley, nor Robby Ashford looked like the right guy at quarterback. T.J. really didn’t play that bad considering that he was literally running for his life every play that was not a run. The Tigers lost the turnover battle 4-0, and that really destroyed them in the end. On the other side, Penn State played an impeccable game on both sides of the ball. QB Sean Clifford went 14-19 for 178 yards. But, the real damage was done on the ground, because Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen combined for 176 rushing yards and four touchdowns. This was an all around great performance from the Nittany Lions and an atrocious one from the Tigers that will probably get Bryan Harsin fired within a week or two.

#1 Georgia 48 @ South Carolina 7

Another 40 point beatdown of another power five team, just another day on the calendar for Georgia. The clear number one in the country in my opinion, they just dismantled South Carolina. They ran the ball effectively when they wanted to, and Stetson Bennett III had another great day passing 121 of his 284 yards, and both of his touchdowns passes went to star tight end Brock Bowers. South Carolina threw three interceptions between two Quarterbacks who both played extremely poorly. Part of that poor play was because of how ridiculously good the Georgia defense is. They completely shut down South Carolina until the last minute of the game when South Carolina scored a touchdown. The only touchdown the Bulldogs have given up through three weeks of football so far.

Florida St 35 @ Louisville 31

Florida State was battling injuries coming into this game, and it only got worse on Friday night. Starting, QB Jordan Travis went down late in the first half and was ruled out for the remainder of the game. Louisville went into halftime leading 21-14, and it seemed like with the injury to Jordan Travis that the Cards would have a good chance to pull away in the second half. Instead, Florida State backup QB Tate Rodemaker played fairly well, compiling 109 yards and two touchdowns on just 6/10 completions. The real damage was done on the ground, where RB Treshaun Ward racked up 126 yards on just ten carries for an average of 12.6 yards per carry. WR Johnny Wilson also racked up seven receptions for 149 yards, as well as two touchdowns. The game was sealed on a great sideline toe-tap interception by FSU’s Kevin Knowles III. Overall, it was a great effort by both teams, but in the end FSU persevered and kept themselves undefeated going into week 4.

USF 28 @ Florida 31

Midway through the fourth quarter, I actually believed as a Florida fan that they deserved to lose this game. Anthony Richardson followed up his atrocious outing against Kentucky with another astonishingly bad performance. The game likely would have gone to overtime had USF kicker Spencer Shrader not missed a game tying field goal in the last minute and a half of the game. To be fair, USF quarterback Gerry Bohannon delivered a not so spectacular performance as well, going 12/28 for 166 yards with two interceptions and no touchdowns. The running game for the Bulls just bullied Florida’s defensive front, with the main man being running back Brian Battie who rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. On the other side, Anthony Richardson went 10/18 for 112 yards and two interceptions. Louisiana transfer running back Montrell Johnson had a great game rushing for 103 yards on just six carries and a touchdown. Florida was lucky to squeak this one out, and they are going to need to figure out how to stop the run and throw the ball if they want any chance at Tennessee this Saturday.

Week 4 predictions –

Boston College @ Florida St

Saturday, 8pm

My prediction – Boston College 17 @ Florida State 31

Boston College is really not playing well right now, and they literally can not run the ball. On the other side, Florida State is really beat up, but their offense will still be better than the Eagles. It’ll be a low scoring game into the fourth quarter, but the Seminoles will score a touchdown or two to pull away.

Wisconsin @ #3 Ohio State

Saturday, 7:30 pm

My prediction – Wisconsin 10 @ Ohio State 29

I’ll take Ohio State’s offense over the badgers any day, and both defenses are really good. Wisconsin will keep it close through the first half, but C.J. Stroud will have a great second half and score enough points for the Buckeyes to win comfortably.

#10 Arkansas @ #23 Texas A&M

Saturday, 7 pm

My prediction – Arkansas 23 @ Texas A&M 21

This is really a must win game for the Aggies, but I just don’t think their offense can keep up with that of the Hogs. Both defenses will create turnovers and keep it relatively low scoring, but Arkansas will pound the rock and pull away in the second half. A late A&M touchdown will make this one look closer than it actually was.

#20 Florida @ #11 Tennessee

Saturday, 3:30 pm

My prediction – Florida 28 @ Tennessee 41

Florida has literally owned Tennessee the last decade and a half, winning 16 out of the last 17. But this game is in Knoxville, and this is the best team Tennessee has had in a long time. Anthony Richardson turnovers will doom the Gators who will struggle to stop the Vols offense.
