Taylor Swift Dominates VMAs

Nominated in 11 categories, Swift took home nine Moonperson trophies

The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) took place September 12, and they are already going down in history. This year has been an iconic one in the music industry, and although many top artists were awarded for their outstanding work, one artist in particular continued her epic run of success. With her record-breaking Eras Tour and her recent takeover of the airwaves, Taylor Swift dominated the night. After being a nominee in 11 categories, Swift was voted the winner in nine of them, including Video of the Year and Artist of the Year. Only one other artist has won nine VMAs in one year – Peter Gabriel for his 1986 release Sledgehammer.

This brings Swift to a career total of 23 Moonperson trophies. This leaves her second only to Beyoncé, who has 25 (does that make Swift Princess Tay?). Many other artists were recognized for their success, such as Olivia Rodrigo, Ice Spice, Nicki Minaj, and more. Here is the complete list of winners:
