Star Wars has announced their future projects in the 2023 Star Wars celebration, and it looks like they won’t disappoint. There were new details announced in the Skeleton Crew and The Acolyte projects, the new trailer for Ahsoka was released, three new movies were announced, and lots more.

The Three New Movies

The first of these movies is called Dawn of the Jedi and will be directed by James Mangold (famously known for directing Logan). It is set to take place 25,000 years before the prequels and will be about the origins of the Jedi. This movie will go deeper into the knowledge and use of the force, and we will even get to see the first person to ever use the force. The second movie will be directed by Dave Filoni (The director of The Mandalorian) and will be all about tying together The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, The Book of Boba Fett, and The Skeleton Crew all into one movie. This movie will conclude all of the mentioned shows and it is rumored that the main villain in this movie will be Grand Admiral Thrawn. For those who do not know who Grand Admiral Thrawn is, he is the smartest of the emperor’s minions and is considered to be the greatest tactical officer in The Empire. This movie is also theorized to explain how Palpatine got resurrected through cloning because in The Mandalorian, there was some talk of cloning problems going on. The third movie will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (famously known for directing Ms. Marvel). It is set to take place 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker and be about Rey forming a new Jedi order.

New Ahsoka Details

We finally have a trailer for the Ahsoka series on Disney+ coming in August, and we have been told lots of additional details about this film as well. We have seen Ahsoka before in the second season of The Mandalorian, and now this will be a show about her and her allies from Star Wars shows such as The Bad Batch and Star Wars Rebels. These allies will include Sabine Wren played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Hera Syndulla played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Chopper (actor unknown), Ezra Bridger played by Eman Esfandi, and Huyand (actor unknown). We also see from the trailer that Admiral Thrawn will be the main villain in this show. This show will take place after the fall of the empire and will involve a new threat emerging from the depths of the galaxy which is rumored to be the First Order. It is also known that a good deal of this show will be about rescuing Ezra after he was captured by Admiral Thrawn. Hayden Christiansen is also set to show up in this series as Anakin Skywalker, most likely in a Flashback. This flashback will inform viewers that have not seen The Clone Wars series about Ahsoka’s connections with Anakin and why she hates The Empire. Other characters in this show will be Shin Hati played by Ivanna Sakhno, Baylan Skoll played by Ray Stevenson, Mon Mothma played by Genevieve O’Reilly, and Dave Filoni (famously known for co-creating The Mandalorian) will be the executive producer and one of the writers for this film.

New Skeleton Crew Details

We do not know much so far, but Skeleton Crew is officially announced to be released sometime in 2023, and it is about a group of kids lost in the galaxy trying to find their way back home. The kids are played by Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter and Robert Timothy Smith. These kids are also assumed to get help from two adults who are played by Jude Law, and Kerry Condon. The directors are John Watts, David Lowrey, Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Issac Chung. This show is said by the directors to be like a Star Wars version of The Goonies. It is also said by the developers that Jude Law will be a Jedi.

New Acolyte Details

It is now confirmed that this show will be streamed in 2024 on Disney+. This show is also said to be a mystery thriller in the olden days of the Jedi and incorporate the rise of the dark side. This show will be created by Leslye Headland. It will also have some extremely well-done action scenes as all the fighting in this show will be martial arts type combat. Another thing that Star Wars fans are looking forward to in this show is the Wookie Jedi that will be played as the Current actor of Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo). The star cast in this show will be Dafne Keen, Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto. From what the developers have said, this show will incorporate a lot of ideas from the Star Wars comics. This show is currently filming in England.

Andor Season 2 Details

It was said by Andor producer Tony Gilroy that Andor Season 2 is in production right now and could be released in August of 2024. It was also said by the developers that Saw Gurerra will also make an appearance in the next season. This next season will also be quite longer than the first season. It is said that there will be a good deal of this show taking place on the planet Yavin which is where the Rebel head base is, so it is possible that this new season could tie into Rogue 1.

These new future films sound absolutely amazing, and many fans are really looking forward for their releases. Hopefully they will live up to their great expectations, and Disney and Lucasfilm will continue to come up with more great film ideas.
