The long-anticipated sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is close in sight, and with the final trailer just being released, it looks to be an amazing movie. Everything looks great based on the trailer, such as the plot, cast, directors and crew, and much more.

What is the Plot About?

After the events of the first Spider-Verse movie, the movie will start off with Gwen Stacy trying to find a way to contact Spider-Man from her own dimension. Gwen will take Miles into the portal she used to contact him. she will show him an elite group of Spider-Men from every dimension who were formed to fix the dimensional mess caused by Wilson Fisk. Here, we will be introduced to Michael O’Hara (Spider-Man 2099) as well as hundreds of other Spider-Men. Spider-Man 2099 was seen in the post-credit scene of the first Spider-Verse movie, and he is the leader and creator of the Spider-Men society in the multiverse. Five universes will be explored in this movie such as Gwen’s universe, Spider-Man 2099’s universe, the city of Mumbattun which has an Indian Spider-Man, a 70’s London town which will be the home of Spider-Punk, and the 5th Dimension has been kept secret by the developers. This movie will also go deeper into Miles and Gwen’s relationship. We will also see the Spider-Man villain, The Spot, who is going to be the main villain in Miles’ universe. For those who don’t know, The Spot tried to mimic the powers of the Superhero Cloak, but his experiments failed, and he ended up with spots on his body that are portals to any dimension he chooses. The Spot is usually seen as a joke, but he is a villain with extreme potential and a big threat to the Multiverse. One theory about this film is that Miles might try to use the multiverse to his advantage to bring back his dead uncle Aaron. This is the reason why all the Spider-Men are chasing after Miles because he doesn’t realize the consequences of changing events that were supposed to happen in his own Universe. Another theory about all the Spider-Men chasing Miles is because they can’t think of a way to Handle The Spot, and things start heating up to a point where Spider-Man 2099 gets very angry and Miles.

The Cast

The cast for Miles, Gwen Stacy, and Peter B. Parker will remain the same. Spider-Man 2099 will be played by Oscar Issaac, Brian Tyree Henry will still be playing Miles’ Dad, Jorma Taccone will play The Vulture, and Luna Lauren Valez will still be playing Miles’ Mom. Unfortunately, some characters such as Spider-Ham, Noir Spider-Man, and the mech spider-woman, will most likely not make their return, but it is still possible. Jason Schwartzman will play The Spot (Jonathan Ohnn), Issa Rae will play Spider-Woman, Daniel Kaluuya will play Spider-Punk, Greta Lee will play Spider-Man 2099’s AI assistant, Shea Whigham will play Gwen’s father, Karan Soni will play Spider-Man India, and Jorma Taccone will play The Vulture. Tom Holland has been teased for this movie in a scene from the trailer in which Spider-Man 2099 mentions an incident on Earth 19999 (the MCU’s Earth) involving Doctor Strange and a Nerdy Spider-Man. One theory is that Mysterio AKA Quinten Beck will appear in this movie, as well. This is because in the Spider-Man comics, Jonathan Ohnn was roommates and close friends with Quinten and even with him in an anti-Spider-Man villain group.

Directors, Writers, and Crew

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller who both famously co-wrote Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will produce this movie. They are doing this alongside Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, and Christina Steinberg. Executive producers include Bob Persichetti, Rodney Rothman, Peter Ramsey, who were the co-directors of the original Spider-Verse movie, Aditya Sood, Rebecca Karch, and Brian Bendis. With all these amazing crew members contributing to this movie, it is definitely safe to say that this movie is in good hands.

More Details

From what the developers have announced, they said that each universe in this film will have its own unique animation style. It is also said that 240 Spider-Men who are unique in their own way will show up. It is confirmed that The Spot will be the main villain in both sequels, so it is theorized that this film will be sort of like Infinity War where the Spider-Men all team up on The Spot and fail. But in the sequel, it is said they all seek revenge and finally take down The Spot. This movie is set to be released on June 2nd after several delays. Once this movie comes out, it will only be available in theaters and have a run time of two and a half hours. This new Spider-Verse movie will not be released on Disney Plus due to the Sony and Marvel contract.
