Nintendo Switch OLED or the Original?

Nintendo Switch OLED or the Original?

In November of 2022, Nintendo came out with the Nintendo Switch OLED model. This release sparked a debate to whether the original or OLED is the better choice. Based off of my experience, here is what I think.

The original Nintendo Switch came out in 2017. It became really popular at the time because it had the ability to switch into different playing modes. Players could either have it connected to their TV in handheld mode, or take the controllers off the switch and put the kickstand up to play with multiple people on the go. It has a 6.2 inch screen, as well as 32GB of storage. And with this model, you can either buy red and blue controllers with a black docking station, or you can buy gray controllers with a black dock. This model costs around $300.

The OLED Nintendo switch model came out November of last year. The OLED model mostly has the same features as the Nintendo switch, but it has better quality and some better upgrades. It has a 7 inch screen and 64GB of storage, which already is better than the original model. The kickstand even has a way better upgrade. Rater than having just a small stick on the side of the switch that pops out, the kickstand is now all the way across the switch, so it as better stability when standing. The screen on the OLED model shows more vibrant colors than the first model did. And the screen also cuts blue light by thirty percent. With the new model, you can buy the original red, blue, and black color design, or you could have white controllers and a white dock. The allows this switch look a lot more modern than the original design. This model costs around $350, and I think this model has enough improvements that the extra money is well worth it.

When looking at both models as a whole, I think the better buy between the two switches is the OLED. The enhancements from the first model are significant and more desirable. I would say the OLED switch is the way to go.
