Working in the lab

Mr. Stelzer’s honors chemistry classes performed an experiment to evaporate the water from soda leaving only the corn syrup. First, they measured out 50 mL of soda and poured it into a flask. They then heated the flask over a bunsen burner to 105 degrees Celsius. This caused the soda to turn into a thick, golden liquid, which was the corn syrup, and caused the water vapor to evaporate out of the flask. After the water was completely evaporated, the students allowed the corn syrup to cool down and then sampled it.
