Florida NHL squads start strong

The 2022-2023 NHL (National Hockey League) season is off to a great start. Both the Florida Panthers and the Tampa Bay Lightning have started the season off well. The Panthers and Lightning are both in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. Currently, both the Lightning and Panthers are 8-6-1. The Lightning are third in the Atlantic division, while the Panthers are fourth. 

On Sunday, November 13, the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Washington Capitals 6-3. Mikhail Sergachev had a great day, providing two assists and two goals for the Lightning. Nikita Kucherov and Nick Perbix each provided one goal and one assist. Cole Koepke and Nick Paul scored one goal each. Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy had 19 saves. 

Lars Eller, Garnet Hathaway, and Conor Sheary scored one goal each for the Capitals. The starting goalie for Capitals, Darcy Kuemper, had five saves and he allowed four goals, so he was taken out at near the end of the first period. Charlie Lindgren replaced him and had 24 saves and only allowed one goal. 

On Saturday, November 12, the Florida Panthers were beaten by the Edmonton Oilers 4-2. Sam Bennett had a great game, scoring both of the Panthers goals. Panthers goalie Spencer Knight had 28 saves. 

Tyson Barrie scored two for the Oilers, while Warren Foegele and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored one goal each. Oilers goalie, Stuart Skinner, made 40 saves.    

On Friday, November 11, the Tampa Bay Lightning were beaten by the Washington Capitals 5-1. Nick Perbix scored the only goal for the Lightning. Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy had 19 saves.

Sonny Milano provided two goals and one assist for the Capitals, while Anthony Mantha provided one goal and one assist. Aliaksei Protas and Conor Sheary each scored a goal. Capitals goalie Darcy Kuemper had 28 saves.

On Wednesday, November 9, the Florida Panthers shut out the Carolina Hurricanes 3-0. Sam Bennett provided one assist and one goal for the Panthers. Alexsander Barkov and Nick Cousins scored one goal each. Panthers goalie Spencer Knight shut out the Hurricanes with 40 saves. 

Hurricanes goalie Antti Raanta had 34 saves.

On Tuesday, November 8, the Tampa Bay Lightning were beaten 3-2 by the Edmonton Oilers. Brandon Hagel and Alex Killorn scored one goal each for the Lightning. Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy had 26 saves.

Connor McDavid helped the Oilers with one goal and one assist. Leon Draisaitl and Warren Foegele scored a goal. Oilers goalie Jack Campbell had 35 saves.

On Sunday, November 6, the Florida Panthers beat the Anaheim Ducks 5-3. Brandon Monotour helped the Panthers win with one goal and three assists. Sam Reinhart scored two goals. Carter Verhaeghe provided one goal and one assist, while Sam Bennett scored one goal. Panthers goalie Spencer Knight had 32 saves. 

Ryan Strome provided one goal and one assist for the Ducks, while Adam Henrique and Isac Lundeström each scored one goal. Ducks goalie John Gibson had 43 saves.

On Saturday, November 5, the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Buffalo Sabres 5-3. The game was tied up 2-2 at the end of the second period, but Lightning were able to break the lead scoring three goals in the third period. Nikita Kucherov had a solid game, scoring one goal and assisting three goals. Brandon Hagel tallied up one goal and one assist, while Brayden Point was able to provide an assist and goal. Lightning goalie Brian Elliott had 21 saves.

Zemgus Girgensons, Jeff Skinner, and Casey Mittlestadt each scored a goal. Sabres goalie Eric Comrie had 25 saves.    

On Saturday, November 5, the Florida Panthers were beaten by the Los Angeles Kings 5-4. Carter Verhaeghe scored two goals for the Panthers, while Ryan Lomberg and Eetu Luostarinen each scored one goal. Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky had 34 saves.

Viktor Arvidsson and Trevor Moore both scored one goal and one assist for the Kings. Rasmus Kupari, Blake Lizotte, and Gabriel Vilardi scored a goal. Kings goalie Jonathan Quick had 34 saves.
